Denbighshire County Council Arts Service in partnership with BCUHB Arts in Health initiative has commissioned local writer and director, Janys Chambers, to write a short play about dementia – The D Word.
Janys Chambers, professional theatre and TV writer (Holby, Emmerdale) talked to people with memory-loss, their families and carers and health-care professionals, in a wide variety of situations, asking all the big scary questions.
DEMENTIA – What is it? What causes it? Who will get it? Will I get it? (Help, have I got it already?) Can anything be done if I get it?
The result is a surprising, funny and moving collection of inspiring characters and true stories – The D Word.
This brand-new, touching, and unexpectedly humorous piece of theatre takes a look at the new panic-button health-problem of our age – dementia.
