Call-out for artists, crafts-people and makers with links to Flintshire

Auction of Art and Promises on behalf of the Art, Design and Techology Committee

In 2016 the Urdd National Eisteddfod will be held in the County of Flintshire. This is cause for celebration and pride amongst the residents of the area. With its fascinating history, its unique buildings, scenery, its light, its colours and shapes, the Flintshire County Borough is a place famous for its artists, crafters, designers and makers.

A few months ago, the Art, Design and Technology Committee was set up. This committee is responsible for planning and making the necessary arrangements involved in holding an exhibition of children’s creative work at the Urdd Gobaith Cymru National Eisteddfod in Flintshire in 2016.

One of the duties of the Committee will be to raise funds to stage the exhibition along with making a financial contribution towards the Eisteddfod’s overall costs. It has been decided to organise and host an Arts and Crafts Auction of works by artists, crafters and makers from the region of the Eisteddfod and the surrounding areas.

The committee is calling on artists, crafters or makers who live in Flintshire or who have a contact or a link with the county, to kindly consider contributing a piece or pieces of their work for auction. The auction will be held in Connah’s Quay Civic Hall on July the 10th, 2015 and a catalogue will also be produced which will be available on the Urdd website.

The Committee will make every attempt possible to ensure wide publicity in the press and media to promote the auction as well as showing thanks and appreciation for the generous contributions of artists, crafters and makers who contribute pieces of their work.

If you would like more information about the auction please contact the Chairman, Gwenno Jones on 01352 702471 or or the Secretary, Rhian Hughes on 01352 754956 or
