2 FREE creative writing and art workshops themed around an exhibition of work by the journals artist, writer and musician Bruce Douglas.

Thurs May 14th 10am – 4pm
Fri May 15th 10am – 4 pm

@ TAPE Community Arts Berthes Rd, Old Colwyn, LL29 9SD

Bruce developed his own unique style of graphic journaling in an effort to deal with rippling bouts of depression. The pages of his journals contain a moving account of one man’s struggle to record every moment of the days when falling out of the universe seemed  impossible, as a way to recall that feeling on those days when there seemed to be no way back in.

During these informal, drop-in workshops, participants can spend as much time as they like in private contemplation of a collection of Bruce’s work and as much time as they like creating their own response in writing and/or images. Paper, pens and watercolours will be provided or you can bring your own materials and equipment if preferred.

Sat 16th May 7-9 pm @ St David’s Church Hall, St David’s Lane, Mold, CH7 1LH

Pinboard Writers are putting on a show of their work to encourage new members to join them. The group’s work ranges over short fiction, stories from life experiences, novels, personal histories, poetry and more. Over time everyone surprises themselves, usually by seeing what they have achieved through the eyes of others, during the regular sessions of read and feedback on work in progress.

Pinboard has been fortunate this year in getting funding from GWANWYN to stage this showcase event in order to boost their membership, so please do come along to their event and enjoy hearing them read their work. There will be an interval with refreshments available for you to enjoy chatting to them and find out what they get up to in the regular sessions. They meet weekly in the Daniel Owen Centre in Mold on Monday mornings from 10 until noon, to spend time exploring creative writing exercises and sharing each other’s work in progress.
