engage Cymru Area Group Meeting hosts an Artworks Paul Hamlyn Foundation Special Initiative ‘Connecting the Conversation’: a connected conversation of 1,000 people over a 10-day period celebrating the practice of artists who work in participatory settings between 16-26 March.

A day of discussion around the subject of off-site galleries and off-site participatory practice.

Angela Rogers
of engage Cymru will introduce the Connecting Conversations project, and give a wider context for the meeting
Steffan Jones Hughes, (Arts Manager for Wrexham and Director of Oriel Wrecsam) and Jo Marsh (Oriel Wrecsam Learning and Engagement Officer) will give insight into Oriel Wrecsam’s imminent move out of its current building, and forthcoming programme of off-site activity, as plans for a new cultural hub unfold.
Tom Goddard will discuss his experience as Learning and Participation Officer at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, which has been operating off-site since 2011 as it undergoes a £6m refurbishment.

There will be a lively conversation with the guest speakers around offsite galleries and looking at how off-site engagement/participatory activities can work. The conversation will include discussions around what role participants play in developing the creative vision for projects and how do we enable these roles?
