DS9 Storytelling and Activism

Digital Storytelling Festival Call For Papers

We are delighted to announce that the George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling Annual Symposium and DS9 Festival are this year joining forces to present a two day symposium with a digital storytelling strand on the theme of ‘Storytelling and Activism’. We aim to inspire, encourage and showcase exciting projects across a wide spectrum of digital storytelling activity. The two day event takes place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th April 2015 in The Atrium, University of South Wales, Adam St, Cardiff, CF24 2FN.

As well as keynote speakers, provocations, performances, q and a sessions and film screenings, we will be including an academic element to the Festival and therefore announce a call for papers. We would like to provide an opportunity to our wide range of attendees i.e. practitioners, researchers, community workers, youth workers and students to present either an academic paper, propose a panel, run a workshop session or chair a small discussion/seminar group. Sessions selected from the call for papers will be presented on Friday 24th April 2014. Each paper will be allocated 30 minutes (15 minute paper plus 15 minutes for questions), panel discussions, workshops and seminars will be allocated 1 hour.

If you would like to contribute please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words by Friday 20th February 2015 clearly marking whether you are proposing a panel discussion, paper, workshop or discussion/seminar.

We will notify the successful contributors by Monday 2nd March 2015.

If there is anything you would like to discuss further please get in touch with either Emily Underwood-Lee (Emily.underwood-lee@southwales.ac.uk) or Karen Lewis (Karen.lewis@southwales.ac.uk).

Please send completed abstracts to Emily Underwood-Lee by Friday 20th February 2015.

Further information regarding registration and fees can be found at http://storytelling.research.southwales.ac.uk/events/2015/apr/24/storytelling-and-activism/.
